Western Province Cobras edged Boland by six wickets, while Jurie Snyman starred in Eastern Storm’s 18-run victory over the Knights on Wednesday.

The Cobras completed their chase of 175 with one ball remaining at Newlands, while Eastern Storm restricted the Knights to 168-8 after posting 186-6 in Bloemfontein.

Victory extended the Cobras’ winning run to five matches and handed Boland their first defeat of the Pro20 Cup campaign. The Cape Town side had beaten the Knights, CSA High Performance, Eastern Storm and Mpumalanga following their opening loss to the Titans.

Blayde Capell led Boland’s batting effort with 50 off 36 balls, including six fours and a six. Gavin Kaplan contributed a brisk 31 off 14 deliveries, while Neil Brand added 23 as the visitors posted 174-7.

Kashief Josephs reached a half-century during the Cobras’ reply, helping the hosts work towards their target. Boland took the contest deep, but the Cobras reached 175-4 off the penultimate delivery to secure another victory.

At Mangaung Oval, Snyman’s 95 off 45 balls provided the foundation for Eastern Storm’s total after the Knights elected to bowl. Opener Kabelo Sekhukhune contributed 38 off 23, with Snyman scoring more than half his team’s runs.

Snyman fell five runs short of a century when he was caught by Tiaan van Vuuren off Malusi Siboto in the final over. Siboto finished with 2-34, while Mbongiseni Mhlanga claimed 2-42.

The Knights lost three wickets inside the powerplay before their chase suffered another setback when Gihahn Cloete, Emmanuel Motswiri and Van Vuuren departed from successive deliveries in the 11th over, leaving them 82-6. Jonathan Bird offered resistance with a half-century before falling with the score on 116.

Snyman followed his batting contribution with four wickets as Eastern Storm kept the hosts to 168-8. The result gave the visitors their first win of the campaign and left the Knights still searching for a victory.
