The three-match series will serve as a shadow tour, and run alongside India senior men’s tour of New Zealand, which begins on Thursday, October 22, with the five-match T20I series. The senior teams are also scheduled to meet in five ODIs and two Tests.

As for the A tour, India have named a few Test regulars to help them get accustomed to the conditions ahead of the Test series. Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, and Akash Deep will all feature for India A in the series.

Dhruv Jurel, the backup wicketkeeper of the senior team, will lead the A squad. Rishabh Pant was also picked, only to be later ruled out of the first two matches due to a side strain. Jharkhand wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra was called up as his replacement.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have named a 19-member squad for the series. Interestingly, Henry Nicholls is the only Test regular named in the squad, while some have represented the BlackCaps in white-ball cricket.

All 12 days of the three four-dayers are scheduled to get underway at 10:30am local time (3am IST, 10:30pm UK time - previous day).
