The ongoing round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 featured several Indian cricket superstars, but only Ravindra Jadeja managed to make an instant impact amidst questions over his selection for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

On one side, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer badly failed to deliver for their respective teams. Ravindra Jadeja made a sensational comeback to the Ranji Trophy.

The Indian all-rounder is currently representing Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 fixture against Delhi at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. On the opening day, Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc on Delhi’s batting line-up and proved why he is currently the world’s best all-rounder.

The experienced left-arm spinner delivered an exceptional performance with the ball, finishing with a five-wicket haul to help Saurashtra bowl Delhi out for just 188 runs in their first innings in the 6th round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 at his home ground in Rajkot.

Ravindra Jadeja made Navdeep Saini, Harsh Tyagi, Sanat Sangwan, Yash Dhull, and Ayush Badoni his victims to finish with impressive figures of 5/66 in 17.4 overs, including two maiden overs.

Notably, Jadeja dismissed Harsh Tyagi and Navdeep Saini on consecutive deliveries in the 50th over, which means the Indian all-rounder will be on a hat-trick for the second innings against Delhi in Rajkot in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash.

With this outstanding performance against Delhi in the ongoing Ranji encounter, the 36-year-old recorded his 35th five-wicket haul in First-Class cricket, as well as taking his tally for Saurashtra to 201.

With 201 wickets to his name, Jadeja became only the fourth bowler in Saurashtra’s history to take 200 or more wickets in first-class cricket. This milestone further cemented his legacy as one of Saurashtra and India’s finest bowlers.

Notably, Jadeja will be soon seen in action for Team India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against England at home. He will also travel to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where he is expected to play a crucial role for the Men in Blue as they aim to win the title after 12 years.

Delhi captain Ayush Badoni shines amid batting collapse in Rajkot

Speaking about Delhi’s first innings, only the skipper Ayush Badoni managed to counter Saurashtra’s attack in Rajkot. Badoni played the impressive knock of 60 runs off 78 balls laced with five boundaries and two sixes before surrendering to Jadeja in the Ranji clash.

Apart from Ayush Badoni, Yash Dhull (44 runs off 76 balls) and Mayank Jitender Gusain (38* runs off 45 balls) managed to make some contribution to take Delhi to 188 runs on the board while the rest of the lineup was dismissed for a single-digit score, except for Sanat Sangwan (12) and Jonty Sidhu (16).

Even Rishabh Pant was dismissed for one run by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja in Rajkot. For Saurashtra, Jadeja starred with the ball by taking five wickets, while Dharmendrasinh Jadeja scalped three wickets against Delhi.

Yuvrajsinh Dodiya and Jaydev Unadkat have also taken each wicket against Delhi in the ongoing Ranji clash in Rajkot on Thursday (January 23).
