In reply, former England opener Nick Compton’s 147 from 123 deliveries proved in vain as New Zealand overseas player Danru Ferns (3-46) got to work.

Blackheath beat newly-promoted Whitstable by 76 runs.

There were half-centuries for opener Charlie-Sid Speller (86) and George Wells (79) in Blackheath’s 292-6 after they won the toss and elected to bat. Overseas player Cullan Larkin (3-43) was the best away bowler.

Matt Golding’s 2-10 then left contributions by Stuart Drakeley (73) and Henry Goss (55) in a losing cause.

Bexley saw off visitors St Lawrence & Highland Court.

Opener Varun Anand’s 54 inspired them to 188 all out with 10 balls to spare as Josh Julian and overseas Australian player Iain Carlisle with 3-20 and 3-39, respectively, got among the wickets.

Jamie Batten (3-20) and Oliver Smith (3-32) restricted St Lawrence to 152 all out in the 36th over despite opener Fred Sharp’s 32.

Hayes were seven-wicket winners against Lordswood.

There were half-centuries for captain Ed Taylor (67) and Joe Gordon (61) in Lordswood’s 238-8 while Aaron Burrage (2-38) and Vaibhav Vaidyanath (2-63) claimed scalps.

William MacVicar and opener William Harby with 95 and 68, respectively, led the way before Burrage’s unbeaten 34 from 26 balls saw them across the line in the 40th over.

In the home team’s successful run-chase, Fred Wilson scored 54 not out from 51 deliveries after opener Stan Greenleaf (50) had earlier set the platform as they got home with eight balls to spare.

Bill Prideaux’s 3-36 from nine overs saw him finish as the pick of the Minster bowlers.
