India's captain Rohit Sharma endured a poor run of form in Test cricket in the last few months. However, Rohit's Mumbai teammate Shardul Thakur is confident of him scoring runs again in the upcoming games.

Thakur even revealed that Rohit Sharma looked quite comfortable in the Mumbai nets and spoke about the batter's recent knock against England in the second ODI at Cuttack where he struck his 32nd ODI ton and announced his return to form.

Shardul Thakur breaks silence on chat with Rohit Sharma

During an interview with Revsportz, Shardul Thakur was asked about Rohit Sharma's recent hundred against England. Thakur also shed light on the conversation between him and Rohit when the latter joined Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy game against Jammu & Kashmir.

"The best part about Rohit Sharma is that he is still the same as he was in his childhood. In terms of his game and as a person, he may have evolved, but the small things within him are still the same," Thakur noted.

"When he played that Ranji game for us and did not score runs, we had a chat because he had not scored in Australia either. But he was so confident that he told me, “I know the runs are not coming now, but all I need is just one innings. Then, runs will come automatically again,” he added.

The bowling allrounder further defended Rohit by saying that it is difficult for the players to face the new ball which makes the job of Test openers even tougher. He showed his faith in Rohit and asked everyone not to judge him.

"He is an opener, and when they face the new ball, it is always tough. We should not judge him at any time, considering how many matches he has won for India across all formats over the years," Thakur claimed.

"Hard to believe he was out of form" - Shardul Thakur on Rohit Sharma

Further speaking in the same conversation, Shardul Thakur hailed Rohit for a magnificent hundred recently. He believes that Rohit is batting extremely well in the nets and just needs some luck to score more.

"The way he was batting, even in the nets, it was hard to believe he was out of form. He looked very comfortable to me. There is a luck factor, and he was getting out—even getting out several times while playing his favorite shots. So, bad luck is real," Thakur exclaimed.

"In this hundred, he hit those sixes with such ease. The class is different, and his six-hitting ability is top-notch. Whenever he bats, it is a treat to our eyes," the allrounder said.

Rohit Sharma's magnificent hundred

Rohit Sharma scored 119 off just 90 deliveries during the second ODI against England at Cuttack. The opener was at his aggressive best during this innings and was excellent against both the fast bowlers and the spinners.

He struck 12 fours and 7 sixes during his knock. His brilliant innings propelled India to an easy win over the visitors and Rohit was adjudged the Player of the Match for his performance.

Rohit's form is a great sign for India ahead of the Champions Trophy where he is leading the team. He is likely to play the role of aggressor at the top and give India flying starts.
