BackDale Earnhardt Jr. melted hearts at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Saturday as he scooped up his daughter to celebrate claiming his latest NASCAR title as a team owner.
Earnhardt Jr. watched on as his JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier secured the 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship with a seventh-place finish in the season finale, the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300, in Homestead, Florida, with the No. 7 Chevrolet driver claiming his second trophy in three years.
For Earnhardt Jr., the readings are even more impressive, as Saturday's victory marked the fifth overall series title for his powerhouse team, following previous championship seasons in 2014 (Chase Elliott), 2017 (William Byron), 2018 (Tyler Reddick), and 2024 (Allgaier).
JR Motorsports put together a historic year, winning 17 of the 33 scheduled races with seven different drivers across their stable, leading Allgaier to become the first driver in team history to win multiple championships.
The milestone also saw him join an elite group of just 10 drivers - including his boss - who have won more than one title in NASCAR's second-tier series.
Following his victory, Allgaier shared the big post-race celebration with his daughters, Harper and Willow, who had actually helped design his special "Chase" playoff helmet, after they greeted him on the track alongside his wife.
Earnhardt Jr. intentionally held back to give his driver space to experience that core memory with his family, though the 52-year-old himself also produced heartwarming scenes as cameras captured him holding one of his daughters on the track.
As he shook people's hands at the end of the race, Earnhardt Jr. carried his eldest daughter, Isla, before they were later spotted together on stage for the trophy presentation.
Earnhardt Jr.'s daughters, Isla and Nicole, have frequently joined him at the track for regular-season wins, such as their famous victory lane trip at Pocono, since he became a team owner, and that was no different this weekend.
Following Saturday's success, Earnhardt Jr. publicly praised NASCAR's newly revived 10-race, non-elimination "Chase" format used this season, noting that the point-accumulation system gave his drivers a better sense of control over their championship destiny than the old elimination-style knockouts.
He was also, of course, understandably proud of Allgaier and the rest of his team, calling the season finale "a special night".
"Obviously we're thrilled with the way this season went. [Crew chief Andrew] Overstreet did a great job, the pit crew did a great job, Hendrick Engines did an awesome job," a beaming Earnhardt Jr. said.
"Been a really strong season for all of our cars and looking forward to next season, let's go win some more. But we're going to celebrate this one. This is a special night."
