BackIndia beat New Zealand by four runs thanks to DLS in the second ODI in Wellington on Saturday.
Rain had cut the match to a maximum of 47 overs a side, and New Zealand were bowled out for 134 in 41 overs.
Gurnoor Brar took a career-best 4-30 and was named player of the match, a game after claiming three wickets in Auckland.
He removed Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips in the 20th over, leaving the hosts 53-5.
Auqib Nabi had earlier taken his first two international wickets, those of openers Will Young and Tim Seifert, and finished with 2-31.
Daryl Mitchell made 55 and Mitchell Santner 31, but no other New Zealand batter passed 11 on a surface with unpredictable bounce.
Jacob Duffy and Kyle Jamieson took 3-35 each, with Duffy removing captain Shubman Gill for a golden duck and Virat Kohli for seven.
Jamieson dismissed top scorer Shreyas Iyer for 30 to leave India 86-5.
KL Rahul was unbeaten on 26 and Nabi on one when rain ended play with India 113-7 from 26 overs, four runs ahead of the par score of 109.
Brar said the extra bounce and pace in New Zealand suited him, unlike the flatter pitches in India.
Santner praised India’s attack, particularly early on.
India won the rain-hit opener in Auckland on Wednesday by five wickets after New Zealand were bowled out for 185.
India lead the five-match series 2-0 and can clinch it with a win in Hamilton on Tuesday.
