The family of Ricky Hatton have shared their frustration as they wait to see what will happen to the late boxer's estate.

The former world champion was found dead in his home on September 14, 2025 at the age of 46. During his boxing career, 'The Hitman' had been beloved by fans, having claimed world title belts across two divisions.

Hatton retired from the sport in 2012, but would later return for an exhibition a decade later. He was also preparing for another comeback bout in Dubai at the time of his death.

Hatton was reportedly worth around £40million, although his parents Ray and Carol have since questioned whether that could be an overestimate.

Hatton's parents and his eldest son Campbell believe there is no will, with his family still waiting for answers over when any money will be distributed over a year after his passing.

Campbell, who was a boxer like his dad, has complained about the process after seeking clarity on when his father's estate will be shared with him and his two half-sisters.

“The lack of answers is concerning,” Campbell told the Daily Mail. “I’ve asked the questions and I can’t see why I’m not getting the information.”

Hatton's parents have also shared their concern over a lack of transparency, with his mother Carol calling it "inhumane".

“Campbell isn’t grabbing at money, he’s not saying, ‘Give me and my sisters £5m each’," added Ray.

"He just wants to know what is going on and these people are telling him nothing.”

The Mail's report states that the Hatton estate is held within the Dorothy Hatton Discretionary Trust, named after Ricky’s grandmother.

The trust is controlled by Hatton's former secretary Catherine Lomas, as well as his former legal adviser. Campbell claims that his phone calls have been blocked.

He also says that the trust have referred his correspondence to law firm Muckle, while the former boxer, 25, has also enlisted his own solicitor to help in his search for answers.

There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Lomas or Dodds, with it not uncommon for these matters to take more than 12 months on larger estates.

A statement given to the Mail read: "We are the trustees of the Dorothy Hatton Discretionary Trust. It would not be appropriate for us to discuss the administration of that trust with you as it is a private matter. However, we take our responsibilities very seriously and have been and remain professionally advised."

Family's pain

However, that has not eased the family's pain.

“Everything we’re telling you here is not for us – I promise you,” Ray said. “We want nothing from Richard’s estate.

"Carol would maybe like his MBE and that’s it. The money, whatever else, it’s all for his kids, not us.

“But I will tell you something, I do want to know how much was left because when I came off his trust, in 2011, he was well set financially and we’ve heard a lot of things since then.”

He added: “When I read about a £40m estate, that sounded about right for what it should have been by now. But I’ve heard from people around Richard that by the time he passed he had bridging loans on properties.

"He didn’t live an expensive life, so why would Richard need a bridging loan? The longer this goes on with the trustees, the more we want to have a proper idea of what was going on.”
