BackIndia made five changes to their squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand, which will start on November 19, compared to the one that played against Sri Lanka in August. Jasprit Bumrah's return was the headline act, as the star pacer missed the tour to the Island nation due to a knee injury.
Most of India's changes have come in the pace-bowling department, with Akash Deep returning to the squad after almost a year following a long hiatus due to a back injury. Meanwhile, Manav Suthar is not part of the squad despite being the highest wicket-taker on the tour of Sri Lanka, as India picked only three spinners and five pacers for this team.
Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar are both back in the squad after not travelling to Sri Lanka because of injuries. This meant Saranash Jain, who made his debut in the second Test in Sri Lanka, has been left out of the squad.
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan has also not made the squad after making a comeback to the Test team after almost two years as a replacement for Sudharsan in Sri Lanka.
Both Gurnoor Brar and Auqib Nabi have been left out of the squad after being called up for the Sri Lanka series without making their debut in the longest format. Anshul Kamboj has earned a recall instead, more than a year after his lone outing in the longest format against England in Manchester in July 2024.
