BackThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced two separate squads for India’s upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand, scheduled from November 4 to 15, 2026. Shubman Gill will captain the team in the first three matches, while Shreyas Iyer will take over the leadership for the final two ODIs.
The decision comes as India balance their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup with the demands of a two-match Test series against New Zealand later in the tour. The split squads will allow the team management to manage workloads while giving several players an opportunity to prove themselves in different conditions.
Gill will lead India in the opening three matches, with Iyer serving as vice-captain. The squad includes experienced stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, alongside KL Rahul, who has been selected as the wicketkeeper.

Iyer will take charge for the fourth and fifth matches, with Ishan Kishan named vice-captain. The latter part of the series will feature several changes, including the inclusion of Tilak Varma, Auqib Nabi, Kumar Kushagra and Yash Thakur.
